218 E Grand is a commercial fit-out in Chicago, Illinois, documented to full construction standard. Our role covered the production of the drawing set the contractor built from, working to the design intent supplied and to the conventions of the reviewing authority.

Scope of work

• General arrangement plans, sections and elevations
• Interior detailing and junctions with existing construction
• Door, finish and fixture schedules
• Coordination between architectural and services information
• Revision handling through the construction phase

Fit-out work in an existing building brings its own demands: the documentation has to reconcile the design with what is actually on site, and tolerances matter more than they do on new build. Dimensions were resolved against existing conditions and the set was cross checked so plans, sections and schedules agreed before issue.
