Permit requirements differ from one authority to the next, sometimes markedly between neighbouring counties. A set assembled from a previous project's template is the most common reason submissions come back with comments, so we build each set against the checklist of the authority actually reviewing it.

That means establishing the adopted codes and editions, the occupancy classification and construction type at the outset, and putting a proper code summary on the cover sheet where a reviewer expects to find it. Egress is demonstrated with occupant loads, travel distances and exit widths shown rather than implied, and rated assemblies carry tested assembly references rather than a note.

If comments do arrive

We respond to every comment explicitly, including any we believe are mistaken, with the code citation stated. A clear response narrative keyed to comment numbers is processed considerably faster than a resubmitted set with no explanation, which is usually the difference between a second round of days and one of weeks.
